Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has said that the team’s batting unit has not performed collectively in the last few games after losing against Rajasthan Royals by 24 runs. Rahul further added that the team should get a good start whenever there is assistance for pacers on the surface.

Lucknow Super Giants suffered a heavy 24-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in their recent game. LSG have slipped to the third position in the points table while RR is in the second spot. RR batted first and posted a total of 178/6. Ravi Bishnoi picked a couple of wickets.

While chasing the target, LSG lost three wickets early in the innings. Deepak Hooda played a knock of 59 runs but they eventually ended up short of the target and posted 154/8. LSG have now faced two losses in a row and have slipped in the points table as a result. They are yet to qualify for playoffs and will have to win the remaining games otherwise the equation can get complicated for them.

Reflecting on the loss, Rahul said that the batting unit hasn’t performed collectively in the last few games and they need to improve.

“It was a gettable target, a good pitch. The new ball was assisting the bowlers. We were good with the ball; the batting group has not performed collectively in a few games. We have to go back and get better. The pitch at Pune was harder,” Rahul was quoted as saying after the match.

LSG were reduced to 29/3 inside the powerplay and they lost the chase right there. Hooda tried to revive the innings but was unable to help the team chase down the target. KL Rahul said that the team is not getting good starts and that is one of the reasons behind their loss.

“This was a better pitch. There was seam movement earlier and they bowled well. Losing two wickets was bad, we've lost games because of that before. So we need to find ways to get a good start when there is movement with the ball," he stated.

“Executing what we want to is the aim. Holding our nerve and give ourselves a chance to play out the new ball or play out a good spell. There's often enough time to make up and go big from there."
