Twitter reacts to Adil Rashid's 'foolish' review leaving umpires in splits after Finch middles ball

England’s leg spinner Adil Rashid was embarrassed in the middle as he reviewed a simple straight forward defence from Aaron Finch and left the umpires laughing with his decision. He got off to a good start in the match by giving only 2 runs in his first over and sticking to his stock deliveries.

England bowlers showed the value of being disciplined in the attack by smoothly executing their plans and hitting Australians with 3 early wickets. The first wicket was taken by Jofra Archer in the first over itself by bowling a gem of a delivery to David Warner. Next in line was Alex Carey, who looked to send Mark Wood in the stands but was caught behind as Wood carried his form from the last match and bowled on the spot. Steve Smith later got himself run out by running straight from the hands of Eoin Morgan. After the powerplay, Australia had a score of 39 for 3, with Aaron Finch trying to revive the team from the slump.

As the powerplay got over, Adil Rashid was called by Morgan to pick wickets and not let Australia getaway. He got a decent start as well, giving just two runs in the first over, with four dot balls. But on the third ball of the match, he took an embarrassing review, which got the on-field umpires laughing. He bowled his stock leg-spinner which was easily defended by Finch, but the leg-spinner wasn’t convinced that it was a clean forward defence as he took the review hoping that it was pad first.

However, things didn’t turn out as he expected when the big screen showed that it a simple straight forward defence. The umpires naturally chuckled looking at Adil Rashid's bizarre review on an absolute blunder of a decision as it was clearly visible that the pad was away from the ball, nowhere close to even have a doubt on the aspect of LBW.

Here is how Twitter reacted to it:
