Ashes 2019 | Will be special to watch the battle between Jofra Archer and Steve Smith, says Stuart Broad

England's frontline pacer Stuart Broad cannot wait to see Jofra Archer and Steve Smith battle it out in the fourth Ashes Test, that starts on September 4, at Old Trafford in Manchester. The Aussie batsman missed the third Test match in Leeds, in which England sealed a thrilling win.

The extremely talented Smith has been named in Australia's twelve-man squad for the Manchester Test that starts on Wednesday. He will be coming back to Test Cricket after a two-week hiatus, recovering from the concussion caused by a hostile bouncer by Jofra Archer that hit the batsman's neck, at Lord's.

Smith has produced scores of 144, 142 and 92 in his three innings in the Ashes so far, and it will be thrilling to watch him fight it out with Jofra Archer once again. The two players have been engaged in a banter where the batsman made a comment that Archer hasn't got him out yet and the bowler took it as a challenge.

Veteran pacer Stuart Broad is now deeply fascinated to witness what happens next when the two meet again in the currently levelled series, at 1-1.

"First thing, it's great Steve is okay and coming back into Test cricket but Test cricket is a brutal sport where countries go hell for leather against each other," Broad was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

"I'm sure when Steve comes in, Jofra will be in [England captain] Joe Root's ear wanting the ball, no doubt about that.

"It was a really tasty bit of cricket at Lord's. Smith was on 80, playing beautifully, and Jofra went from 84mph to 95mph. He was really charging in. That sort of cricket is awesome to watch on the telly or from the stands but when you're stood at mid-on, it's pretty special. Hopefully we can have a battle like that again.

"The dream is someone nicks him off first ball and Jofra doesn't get to bowl at him but he doesn't average 60-odd for nothing. There will be a period in this game where those two come together again and - touch wood - I'm on the pitch to view it," Broad said.
