IND vs BAN | Batsmen should tweak their strategy for evening session in D/N Test, says Ajinkya Rahane

With all of two days of international Day-Night Test cricketing experience under his belt, Rahane has already made some clear assessments in the changes batsmen need to make. The pink ball has clearly threatened much more during the second and third sessions on either day, unlike the first session in the traditional format.

“Historic Test match and really glad to be part of this. As a batman, I thought the first and the second session were easy to bat on. But under lights, with the late swing, it is challenging for batsmen. The twilight period is always challenging. In the first session, the ball comes on nicely with no lateral movement. Later with the dew coming in the strategy should be different. You need to play positive cricket in the first session and capitalize on that,” Rahane said, reported Cricbuzz. 

Although he continued his form with the bat with his fourth consecutive Test fifty, Rahane missed an easy opportunity, given his high standards, while in the field.

“[On the catch he dropped] You still have to be positive, you have to look for that catch. The attitude matters a lot after dropping a catch,” Rahane said. 

Even though Bangladesh are six down and still need another 89 runs to avoid an innings defeat, Rahane and India will focus on getting one wicket at a time on day three.

“We still have to come tomorrow and come hard at them. One wicket at a time is what we are thinking. We still respect the Bangladesh team and one wicket is what we are looking for at the moment,” Rahane added.
