The entertainment quotient of T20 matches is costing the real value of the game and that was well on show when a Ben Cutting catch went begging in the Big Bash League match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades at the Gabba. The struggle was real for the visitors as the Heat Openers Cutting and Max Bryant literally gave them nightmare with their ball bashing.
In the 9th over of the Heat innings, there was a chance for the Stars to dismiss Cutting, but they would always feel unfortunate for this event. Dwayne Bravo bowled his typical slower in-the-zone delivery which was too easy for Cutting to go on his knees and played it agriculturally so high that it seemed it wouldn’t cross the boundary line over deep mid-wicket.
Maddinson was fielding at the wide of mid-wicket and was in a conversation with Fox commentators, and it was understandable that he was not attentive enough to grab that catch. As a result of it, despite moving in that direction and almost reaching it at the right time, he failed to judge the ball and it landed on the other side of the fence to award Cutting a six.
