Reports | Former England coach Peter Moores in line to take over as South Africa's coach

Two-time former English coach Peter Moores has emerged as the front-runner to take over the role of Ottis Gibson as South Africa's head coach, according to a report by Daily Mail. Gibson was shown the door by South Africa after a disappointing World Cup campaign, which saw them make a first-round exit. 

Moores, who is currently the head coach of county side Nottinghamshire, has confirmed that he will not be extending his contract with the English side, with his three-year contract set to run out at the end of summer.

The 56-year-old was first appointed the coach of England in 2007, after the subsequent resignation of former coach Duncan Fletcher. Two years later, Moores was removed as the coach of England due to a public spat with Kevin Pietersen, but then again was re-appointed as head coach in 2009, after the sacking of Andy Flower. 

However, he was once again sacked in 2015 after England's disappointing World Cup campaign, after the appointment of Andrew Strauss as the Director of Cricket.
