No communication from anyone after I was dropped from the team, reveals Murali Vijay

Murali Vijay has stated that he was not contacted by the Chief Selector or any other of the selectors after he was dropped for poor performance in first two Test matches against England. Last month, Karun Nair also had similar concerns when he was not picked for Test series against West Indies.

As the competition in Indian Cricket keeps on increasing, the chance for players to make mistakes also keeps on decreasing. On the tour of England Murali Vijay picked up sores of 20, 6, 0 and 0 in four consecutive innings and he was dropped immediately from the team for the next match and from the squad for the remaining two matches.

"Neither the chief selector nor any other person spoke to me in England after I was dropped from the third Test, none of them have spoken to me since. I did have a conversation with the members of the team management in England and that's it", Vijay told Mumbai Mirror.

"I think it is important that a player is told about the reasons for keeping him out so that he knows where exactly he stands in the team managements' and selectors' scheme of things. As a player it is very important that you are going to get more than just one or two games, so that you can plan better. Stability keeps doubts away. Ultimately, one has to perform and contribute to the team's cause".

Even though the right handed opener was dropped from squad, he stayed in England and played County Championship for Essex where he had scores of 56, 100, 85, 80 and 2, but that did not bear any fruit as he was not picked in the squad for the series against West Indies which started today. Still, he added that he will keep preparing and score heavily in domestic Cricket so that he may be picked for the upcoming Australia tour. Vijay will play for his home state team of Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

"I will be preparing for the Australia series too in my own manner. I know the conditions there well, having scored close to 500 runs during the 2014-15 series. I wish to be ready if the chance comes. Ultimately it's the runs that matter when you are trying to make a comeback."
