Shastri was appointed as the new head coach of the team after Anil Kumble stepped down from the role amidst controversy. The BCCI officially announced Shastri as the head coach on July 11 after the West Indies series and since then, under Shastri's guidance, India have enjoyed nothing but success winning 13 off the 14 matches across all formats. It has now been revealed that in the period between July 18 and October 18, Shastri has pocketed a little over ₹1.20 crore for his contribution to the team.
Along with Shastri, former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also received a payout of ₹Rs 57.88 lakh. The amount is a share of gross revenue from the international matches that were played outside India.
But it wasn't just the big guns who pocketed profits as domestic players who turn out for the Delhi team were also reimbursed Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy match fee which accounted for over ₹69 lakh and ₹56 lakh respectively.
