WATCH: Peter Handscomb finds an unusual way to get out against Pakistan

Aussie batsman Peter Handscomb clipped the bail off his leg stump with his bat while trying to play Wahab Riaz to the off-side on the 2nd day of the 3rd Test at the SCG. Handscomb’s wonderful innings of 110 runs came to an end with that incident, which was only confirmed after a series of replays.
Handscomb came in to bat at 244/3, and by the time he departed, Australia had crossed the 500-run mark. The 25-year-old continued his impressive introduction to Test cricket, as he scored his second century in what was only his four Test appearance. However, it was the method of his dismissal which grabbed a lot of attention, and it took a number of replays before he was given out hit wicket.
In the 132nd over, Wahab Riaz bowled a full delivery outside the off stump of Handscomb. The Aussie went really deep into his crease before slicing the ball towards the fielder at the point boundary. However, all of a sudden, it came to Riaz’s notice that the bail on the leg stump has been dislodged and the third umpire was called into action.
From the initial replays, it was unclear as to how Handscomb had managed to dislodge the bail, but a view from the spider cam at the top showed that while bringing the bat down to play the ball, Handscomb had nicked the top of his leg stump which led to the ball falling from its perch.
