The NCA will organize a camp for the spinners next week with nearly 20 participants from across the country. Former leggie Narendra Hirwani will lead the camp, and guide the young budding spinners for 4-5 days. Established Indian internationals, like R Ashwin, will not participate in this camp.

"This was long due. Around 18-20 spinners across the country will participate in this camp. We have shortlisted these spinners with an eye on future. Our past president Shashank Manohar had said in his vision document that he wants a good bench strength in the spin department. Now, our current president (Anurag Thakur) is taking his work forward," unnamed sources in BCCI were quoted as saying by the TOI.

A camp like this for the spinners have not been organized by the BCCI for a long time, although three years back the NCA did organize a camp for fast bowlers. TOI's sources has also revealed that Indian team regulars like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will not participate in this camp, however, Jayant Yadav, Yuzuvendra Chahal, and Axar Patel will join the camp at the end of India's tour to Zimbabwe.

"We have divided all the spinners in 4-5 batches. Four to five spinners will be part of a batch. They will spend time with Hirwani for four-five days, depending how he feels about them. It would be easy for him to work on 4-5 spinners at a time. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja won't be part of the camp. It's for the upcoming spinners.

"Jayant, Yuzuvendra, and Patel will join after the Zimbabwe tour. We want every talented spinner to attend this camp. Our focus would be on understanding the strengths and weaknesses of these spinners and how we can help them improve. They need to learn to bowl in all conditions and just not the turners. It's not about working too much on their techniques but how little adjustments can help their performance, and of course, the mental part of the game," unnamed sources in BCCI told TOI.
